Twydall Library to The Strand
Twydall can be reached by 182 bus from Chatham or Gillingham.
This walk is 4.9 miles long and can be found on Ordnance Survey maps 148 and 163.
From Twydall Library walk to the steps down to Twydall Green. Turn left then left into Goudhurst Road and right into Charing Road, turn left into Lynsted Road. Walk diagonally across Eastcourt Green to Beechings Way. Cross Ito Way by the footbridge . Cross Beechings Way an enter through the gates into Woodlands Cemetery.
Leaving the Cemetery at the main Woodlands Road entrance turn right. Just after the railway bridge take a footpath on the left. After a short distance climb a style on the right hand side. Walk down the slope and cross the field into Castlemaine Avenue turn left into the other part of Castlemaine Avenue.
Take a right turn into an alley which goes to Grange Road, cross the road and enter the former Churchyard. Go diagonally left to a footpath turn left into Christmas Street. Take an alley on the right just after the day nursery and continue down some steps to Pier Road. Cross at the lights and go into the Strand park.
Follow the Saxon Shore way to Copperhouse Lane and turn left at the Lower Rainham Road. Immediately turn right onto Lower Featherby Road. Turn left onto Grange Road. Continue to a T Junction and turn right. Go up Lower Twydall Lane, over the railway bridge and cross Beechings Way at the crossing. Continue up Charing Road, Goudhurst Road and Twydall Green back to the library.
