Ringlestone to Wouldham

A 7.5-mile walk from Ringlestone to Wouldham. This walk is on the OS Explorer map number 148 Maidstone & the Medway Towns.

Take the 101 bus from Chatham and get off the bus at the Ringlestone footbridge. Follow Sandling road in the direction of Maidstone and turn right into Dickens Road.

At the bottomĀ  of Dickens Road take the footpath down to the River Medway

In the winter Allington Castle can be seen across the River.

This view can be seen all year round but it is clearer when the trees are clear of foliage.

Body shaped tombstones in Aylesford Churchyard. Could be the parents and two children. Similar to the ones in Cooling Churchyard which inspired the introduction to Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.
